I actually liked the look of the creatures and their ships. I kinda suspected that was the premise, where they were once the prey and just turned things around. Mind you there's 100000 years of evolution missing with the changes necessary to each species to switch spots and develop things like threat ganglia, but who's nitpicking
It would have been cooler in my opinion for them to be tiny little things or not threatening at all.
Yes that scene with the drone/communicator/ Home Hardware floor socket made me smile. One scene it's a drone, next he's making toast and coffee with it. Another part of the tech aspect I don't like.
