Next week I imagine they'll rewrite and stomp all over that idea telling us some other idea was behind it, and we should just forget what we've seen and heard to this point.

Damn, I can literally feel the IQ points being sucked out of my head when I watch this show.
See, I understood it to be just that among it's vast wealth of stored knowledge, that the BB had acquired a lot of info on AI and that Section 31 wanted that info. But either way, that begs the question as to what was controlling Airium and why would hypnotized Airium want to be helping out Section 31?

Kirking around the bridge ... Man you would get thrown off every current net forum for using that kind of language

Yes you're right. Commander Nhan is a late addition. I think she came with Pike and/or the a-hole engineer guy who got killed within his first 3 minutes on screen.

Detmer doesn't do it for me

You're familiar with the background of The Borg without watching Voyager? Quite possible the most intelligent and terrifying enemy created on any Star Trek series.

I see the AI in this show as being similar. Did the AI itself become sentient on its own and that's what the BB was? A physical representation of a Hal 9000-like presence? It knew its time was going to be up so it bailed via Airiam and now for some reason had to reach that penal colony and by extension Section 31?

It's the death of the Section 31 people...two weeks prior to anyone showing up that puzzles me. Did the BB somehow do that?

Yeah, they left that one up in the air too....who killed the Section 31 people? They figured out that Vulcan ambassador was a hologram after they found her body on the penal colony.

I'm sure we'll find out some convoluted reason as to how it happened.

Not sure about the BB as to what it is/was. In the episode featuring it, they made it sound like a living thing.

Give me the old episode of the week anytime over this convoluted garbage. Remember the much heralded TOS episode City on the Edge of Forever with Joan Collins?

They had to let her die in order for the correct timeline to play out. That's how you handle drama and sci-fi

Last line in the episode is only one of two times during the entire series when someone swears. Jim says - Let's get the hell out of here.

*sidenote - Don't really like the swearing in Discovery. Even 'shitstorm' by Pike was a little jarring. And definitely no F-bombs...

One of, if not my most favorite episodes of TOS, and widely regarded as the best episode of ANY Star Trek series.

Mr Spock (to Kirk): Edith Keeler must die.

And I'm with you, there is no need for the swearing on Discovery, and I too cringed when Pike said 'shitstorm'

I have this fantasy. Disovery bridge crew is doing their thing, Burnham, Saru and the Admiral are being contrary to anything Pike suggests as usual.

Pike stands up on his chair, rips off his shirt a la Hulk Hogan and screams, "I was fucken Cullen Bohannon for five fucken seasons and you bitches are going to start doing what I ask! That goes for you too Stamets you arrogant pantywaist, none of this is a debate!! These ARE MY ORDERS!"

He hasn't reviewed an episode in awhile, but he goes over theories as to who the Red Angel may be.

And then he flies that bitch Discovery right into a supernova after saying - Hit it.

So did we ever get the origin story about how TOS Pike was burned and confined to that chair?

If not, I hope we find out Burnham was responsible
