Like I said to the host of the podcast...you can only let so many things go and then you realize the show content is driving the constant rationalizations and consolations you're having to make.

I used the water balloon analogy. You can only get hit in the face so many times before complaining you're wet

Of course... strong female black lead and openly gay engineers and science officers?

Hey maybe in season 2 we'll find out the transporter can actually send you back in time and then they can change more stuff!

That was something else that bothered me. Lorca, using a half-dead Lt Stamets can get the Discovery to jump to the EXACT place and time in the exact parallel universe so he can go and try and kill the Emperor, but a 100% Lt Stamets couldn't get the Discovery back to the original universe without jumping ahead in time because oh yeah, not only can the spore drive transport you anywhere instantaneously across the multi-verse, it can also send you thru time too.

I honestly lost track/didn't care when they got to the part about 167 jumps...to reach what? Home...the Klingon home planet...Xanadu?

The part about Stamets going into that alternate dimension was cool (remember after the first jump he looked in the mirror and his reflection didn't move? Creepy..), but the entire premise of jump drives and using a human and almost killing them makes no sense.

One way they could have salvaged the plotline is to the discover jump technology, use people to drive it, and have everyone die horrible deaths. I'm talking whole starships with people dying and ending up stuck in bulkheads and floors sort of thing

Then it becomes a footnote in history, not a main part of the show...and warp drive technology is the main focus, as it should be.

Like at the beginning of the series when they hadn't been able to get it to work yet and the companion ship that was also working on the spore drive got all twisted up and contorted from trying to jump.

Now that I'm done with the season, I've been looking up to see opinions of the show, and sadly a lot of them think the show is phenomenal. But, there's a lot of negative on there and I saw someone say in one of their comments that the show is written more to appeal to Star Wars fans than it is for Star Trek fans, and I think there's some truth there.

    It's a pretty bauble

I liked some of the graphics...the Battle of the Binary Stars sounded and looked so cool, yet when you realize underneath what actually happened, it fizzled.

One early scene that started my hate. They come across an old ship near the binary stars. They have about 15 minutes before things are going to go supernova. So the science officer or first officer (whatever Burnham was at the time) decides to go out in a non protected craft "for a closer look".

They have no idea what the huge ship is. (Ancient Klingon death ship with external coffins I think..) And those stars are going to BLOW! Yet no problemo...we'll let one of our senior officers go out to get closer, because yes, the ships main sensors can't determine much about the mystery death craft. Other than it may eat people ffs...

But man, the people that liked this mess of a garbage pile defend it very vigorously...it's funny.

I know, I had 15 weeks of it.

My first argument was about the opening episode. Burnham and captain walking on a planet and the storms are so bad, they can't use the transporter on the ship to get a lock.

So instead, they make a cool star fleet insignia pattern using two tiny sets of footprints, and someone on the ship sees it.

    Ensign EAGLEFUCKINGEYES I guess ....

I admit to occasionally trolling the defenders of the show. Hey, if they like it, they like it. But you best not tell me what I 'should' like...

Yeah, and that same storm that keeps them from getting a transporter doesn't cover up any of that ginormous Star Fleet insignia, it's completely intact and visible from space.

This was my first point of logic. Storm prevents transporter lock, how do they physically see footprints from orbit?

They even showed the storm moving across the sky creating a shadow...

I called their little celebration on the food deck, a disco-rave complete with E and energy drinks...the fans didn't like that

ffs they used an actual existing disco song for the background music and I'm Mr Wrong?
