Down the stretch in the midterm elections, President Donald Trump has escalated his rhetoric over immigration. For instance, during an Oct. 20 rally in Elko, Nev., he criticized "sanctuary cities," a somewhat fuzzy term that refers to localities that limit their cooperation with federal immigration enforcement authorities.
"I don't think we like sanctuary cities up here," Trump told the crowd in Nevada. "By the way, a lot of people in California don't want them, either. They're rioting now. They want to get out of their sanctuary cities."
Is it really the case that in California, "they're rioting now" over sanctuary cities?
We found no evidence of it.
The White House did not respond to a request for evidence for this article, and Trump himself sidestepped an opportunity to cite specific evidence during remarks to journalists boarding Marine One at the White House on Oct. 22:
Reporter: "Hey, Mr. President, you said Californians were rioting over the sanctuary cities. Where?"
Trump: "You shouldn’t have — take a look. They want to get out of sanctuary cities. Many places in California want to get out of sanctuary cities."
Reporter: "But that's not rioting, sir, right?"
Trump: "Yeah, it is rioting in some cases."
Reporter: "Where are the riots, sir?"
At that point in the media availability, Trump turned to an unrelated question.

Some supporters no doubt believe many of the falsehoods. Others may recognize the claims as falsehoods but tolerate them as a side effect of an off-the-cuff rhetorical style they admire. Or perhaps they have become desensitized to the dishonesty by the sheer volume of it.
Maybe we should ask Porky how Californians really feel about being a Sanctuary state. Because, you know, he lives there...
I have other friends that live there and they hate it. They also hate the politicians that are doing these things. They always tell me they don't know how these idiots are getting elected because neither they nor any other Californians they know are actually voting for them.
Personally, I would take my friends' words over any article you could find that supports your delusion. Just sayin...

Sorry: You think it is a delusion that Trump stated (it's available on video) that there were riots in California?
I can understand and accept that you support his policies... that's fine. But for the life of me, how can you support his constant ... let's be kind and call it "exaggerations"....

I have always seen his rallies as being similar.......
You see cities in CA fighting the governor over this because nobody voted on this, they just passed it. Most the people I know do not agree wit it, and I'm surrounded by liberals and hispanics.
