I couldn't balance this fully because I could find an article on Trump's 10 biggest truths of 2018...

The 10 worst things Trump did in 2018

President Donald Trump’s top 10 successes of 2018

President Donald Trump's 10 biggest falsehoods of 2018

Can anyone of the Trump fan club explain the US Government shut down?

My understanding is that Trump won't sign funding because it doesn't include the billions of dollars HE wants for building HIS wall.

I thought he has always said that Mexico would pay for it. :

You can slice it a million ways and it really doesn't matter. The cost of the wall pales in comparison to the cost of welfare and education for illegals. The revised NAFTA agreement will also help.

Keep in mind, the number one source of revenue in Mexico is Oil. Number 2 is cash transfers from the US.

But I doubt you've heard anyone here focus on that. We are interested in 4 things on this issue: 1) Maintaining national sovereignty (like the Australians do), 2) The right to determine and set immigration policy and procedure to be discerning about what immigrants are in the best interest of the United States, and 3) Limit or eliminate the expense to taxpayers for people who cross the border illegally, and 4) Prevent those with harmful intent, be it criminals or terrorists, from having an unencumbered means of egress.

The US southern border is 2000 miles long. There is currently 580 miles of border fence as supported by previous administrations and congress. The lowest breech rates are not surprisingly, WHERE THE WALL IS.

Your ad infinitum attacks, in sharp contrast to the policy of practice of your own nation are, at best, hypocrisy.

Our southern border is 3,145 km. Melbourne to Perth is 3406 km. It is the most frequently crossed border in the entire world. How would Australia respond to millions of illegal crossings a year across the entire stretch from Melbourne to Perth? Would you do what you could, maybe catch 500k, but accept financial responsibility for the rest? Would you argue that maintaining national sovereignty is hateful, racist, and cruel? Or would you shut the border down... given your current history with internment camps for your version of "the poor people who just want a better life", building a wall is far less cruel.

I have openly said since the 1980's there is nothing to discuss until the border is shut down. I maintain that position. We have lived a lifetime through this complete and utter bullshit, and we're done. Shut it the fuck down. There is no other answer that I find acceptable. So Trump is refusing to compromise. Good. Fuck it, and fuck the people who do not believe we have a right to be a nation. Nobody has had the balls to do this in my lifetime... and I may not see it again.

I don't have any problems as to the reasons just to the way Trump is going about it.

I wonder how many unpaid or out of work government employees are in full support at the moment?

@RBP by national sovereignty you mean virtual sovereignty, right?

You mean the ones with credit union bridge loans to cover until they get paid for their extended paid vacation? I would say 90% are happy as pigs in shit right now.

I am not familiar with the term virtual sovereignty, I thought that was a data security issue.

I directly mean that a nation has borders and controls the function of the territory within those borders. We seem to want to ignore the fact that this is driven by people who do not believe that there should be a border at all... or a United States, for that matter.

One of the Antifa protest chants is "No border, no wall, no USA at all". So, at it's core, this fight is about our right to exist.

I meant cultural sovereignty. Silly phone.

But you've answered the question I guess.

I have more to say, but I'm tired and have no doubt the topic will rear it's head again ^^

I'm not even talking about the cultural implications, although there certainly are, I am simple talking about the right to exist as a nation, control the flow of people across a border, and set rules for immigration. I know.. crazy racist alt-right bullshit, eh?

    Perfectly fair.

I think there's also a deeper passion to it that obfuscates the debate and should be factored in.. About fear of erosion of the predominant national identity on one hand. And about fear that persecuting and controlling Hispanics at the border will lead to something similar within the US

So basically keeping both sides of your electorate happy
