You could post fake anti-Trump stuff on Facebook or Twitter or anywhere and people would run with it like it was the gospel.

If there was only some way to prevent that from happening...like, I don't know, maybe not trying to sneak across the border of a sovereign country or something like that. Just an idea.
And do we want to discuss how Australia treats refugees trying to come into your country?

Separating kids from parents isn't the way. We all know that...
Fact
DHS does not have a blanket policy of separating families at the border. However, DHS does have a responsibility to protect all minors in our custody. This means DHS will separate adults and minors under certain circumstances. These circumstances include: 1) when DHS is unable to determine the familial relationship, 2) when DHS determines that a child may be at risk with the parent or legal guardian, or 3) when the parent or legal guardian is referred for criminal prosecution.
Familial Relationship – If there is reason to question the claimed familial relationship between an adult and child, it is not appropriate to detain adults and children together.
Human Trafficking and Smuggling – If there is reason to suspect the purported parent or legal guardian of human trafficking or smuggling, DHS detains the adult in an appropriate, secure detection facility, separate from the minor. DHS continues to see instances and intelligence reports indicating minors are trafficked by unrelated adults, posing as a “family” in an effort to avoid detention.
Safety Risk – If there is reason to suspect the purported parent or legal guardian poses a safety risk to the child (e.g. suspected child abuse), it is not appropriate to maintain the adult and child together.
Criminal Prosecution – If an adult is referred for criminal prosecution, the adult will be transferred to U.S. Marshals Service custody and any children will be classified as an unaccompanied alien child and transferred to the Department of Health and Human Services custody.

Those numbers are misleading. for reason mentioned in the full article above at the DHS website. More stunning is the sheer number of people trying to cross illegally. if it's 2500 children, accompanied by at least one adult, plus all the adults trying without children, plus the 60-70% that didn't get caught...
...That's potentially 10-20,000 plus people flooding across the border in just 6 weeks. Would your country allow 200k/yr people to slip in unchecked or monitored, knowing that a good percentage are bringing drugs, are known criminals and have no intention of adapting to your society?
Look, I have no issue with people of all races and backgrounds wanting to immigrate here. I do have an issue that certain groups want to come here and change our society to fit their culture they were so desperate to get away from.
Rape gangs in Europe? No problem, that's just their culture, we should adapt to fit their needs......um, nope.

The problem with social media, and indeed it has been the problem with all media forever, is people tend to believe what they are told.
We had some crap doing the rounds about not filling your fuel tank, in case hot weather makes it explode. Liked and shared by an amazing amount of seemingly non-retarded people.
Politics is basically the same.
Brexit was sold on a lie, a massive lie. We shall see what happens regarding it.
You're still being told Putin is propping up Bashar in Syria.
Might be that a good massacre or two is what the region needs.
It was certainly stronger and less pollutant under the prior dictatorships.
This stuff at the border, however, are you aware of the millions that are spent direct to companies owner by wealthy republican donors to house and police the asylum seekers? Not mentioning the amount spent on the illegals.
It isn't in their interest to actually stop it.
They make mad profits about shouting about it, while allowing it to continue, both sides.

No we wouldn't and we don't. We ship them offshore to lockup in third world countries (who asses we own) as a disincentive.
My understanding is your disincentive was taking kids away from parents while they are processed. The policy seems to be changed now.
I broadly agree with what you say. Some are genuine refugees but many just want to skip the queue to a better life. A few criminals too, obviously..
