Interesting side note, when they tried to break into the US market, they had to release as "The Rads" because there was already a US band going by The Radiators.

The Australian state of Victoria legalises assisted dying

Some 50 bills have been introduced in different Australian states. This is the first to pass.

My concern is always creep. At a basic level, well administered, with proper medical and mental health screening, I support it. But definitions get expanded and standards get lax... then it gets dangerous. The example for me is late term abortion, which, by all but the most extreme standards, is killing a viable child. The process is brutal and horrifying. It started as only if the mother's life was in imminent danger. Then became a more nebulous life risk. Then it became life or health. Then health got interpreted to include mental health, which of course devolved into any psychic discomfort expressed by the mother. In other words, there was no longer a standard if the mother knew what to say. If the standards remain terminal illness but with the mental capacity to make an affirmative decision, then compassionately follow the person's wishes. If it devolves into a self-proclaimed risk of shallow depression, then no.

The reality is that elderly males are at the largest statistical risk for suicide (followed closely by single middle-aged males). Providing a compassionate alternative does make sense.

Good points. Probably within itself, the legislation will help make medical decisions easier. But, some will try and stretch it too far.

I think the same thing with the whole YES thing here. That they will start trying to bring nonsense into schools.

You see I don't think fucking the same sex is normal, and I wouldn't want in normalized in schools. I voted YES, so that a minority group (some who are weird with mental issues, as far as I am concerned) can do something amongst themselves that makes them feel happy and secure. Happier citizens, better world. They had better keep aspects of the gay culture amongst themselves, though. Especially the bit about 'we're all the same, and it's normal to experiment'. Fck off.

Completely agree. I maintain that gay couples should have the same legal rights as an acceptable alternative lifestyle. Mainstreaming homosexual relationships and transsexualism makes it too easier for kids to make bad decisions because it's trendy, cool, or edgy.
