I actually think the best thing would be to go out and speak to your black friends and ask them.
I think most of this stuff is psychological. The fear of whites further repressing blacks and the fear of blacks becoming 'dangerous'. I think it's more dangerous to repress this stuff, and better anger than rage. Perhaps this whole unpleasant churning process (with extremes that get magnified by the media) has to happen. We're seeing the backlash now, right, with the Trump administration hitting back as a proxy from competent whites (more or less) who are hitting back because they can endure no more. I think it's part of an angry cycle that will oscillate for a while. Peace and respect needs an honest secure foundation, doesn't work with hidden resentments.
