Bitter Colbert rips Trump SOTU, despite rave reviews

Stephen Colbert, host of “The Late Show” on CBS, said Tuesday that he was "barely left conscious" after listening to President Trump's State of the Union address and went on to take shots at the president and his alleged affair with a porn star.

Colbert, who was live, showed his audience an edited version of the speech to show Trump saying, "Donald Trump was never the solution for our country," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The host went on to talk about Trump's alleged affair with porn star Stormy Daniels, which she denied ever having hours before the address, according to Entertainment Weekly.

“We have endured floods and fires and storms,” Trump said in a clip before Colbert cut in to say “And Stormys.” Colbert said, “Don’t forget her, she was the most expensive disasters for you, personally.”

Colbert also made fun of Trump on his comments about African-American unemployment being at an all-time low.

“There was a time when African American unemployment was at zero, but only half of Trump's base wants to go back there,” he said.

Colbert did compliment some of the guests who were honored during the speech, before throwing in a Trump joke.

“Honestly, some of the most beautiful, impressive Americans you could imagine,” he said. “And the president was there too.”

I used to think he was mildly entertaining when he was on Comedy Central doing The Colbert Report, but now that he's gone 'big time', his whole shtick is bashing the President, he has absolutely nothing else and he's a vile asshole when doing it. It's not funny to anyone except those infected with TDS.

If there had been someone on TV, regardless of the network or the show, saying the kinds of things he says about Trump, saying them about Obama when he was president, there would have been calls to have them publicly executed.

I think he's an intelligent and hilarious guy.

Regarding his presidential comments, someone should start listing facts. Did Trump lie about the statistics or did Colbert?

And comedians have been making fun of politicians for decades, it's nothing new. Obama got his from right leaning comics...I read some of it here.

Really? Did you see or hear any 'mainstream' "comedians" saying that Obama wanted to fuck his daughter(s)? That Obama was a cocksucker? Because Colbert did referring to Trump. On national television.

I can't and won't go back to find the Obama bashing. There was plenty.

I didn't see any of Colbert's post address comments. He talked about the daughter that way and said Trump was a cocksucker? Agreed, that's not funny and certainly not morally correct.

It was over the course of the past year, he didn't say those things in the post-speech diatribe.

What bothers me is that in this day and age (thought I would never use that expression...), we have access to almost instant statistics and verification.

So when a politician claims 'this' and the detractors claim 'that', there should be a simple process to find out what the truth is.

I'm not talking about certain news outlets always leaning left, and certain websites always leaning right....we'll never get the complete truth from prejudiced sources.

Things like employment rates and changes to the cost of living should exist on some sort of middle ground without an agenda, that everyone can access.
