A woman is charged with child abuse after she was accused of cutting her 20-month-old son's genitalia with a scissors last month.

Ashley Marie Kase, 23, of Elverson, was charged today with aggravated and simple assault, endangering the welfare of a child and reckless endangerment, said Michael Gombar, chief Berks County detective.

Kase admitted intentionally cutting the child's genitalia with a scissors while she was changing his diaper Jan. 24.

The child was later taken to Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. He was later discharged to the care of his father, Gombar said.

Kase was arrested today at her place of employment.
