Chelsea Handler blasts Republicans for Florida high school shooting, says they 'have blood on their hands'

Just hours after a lone gunman open fired on students in a Florida high school, killing at least 17, comedian Chelsea Handler took to Twitter to capitalize on the tragic incident and blame Republicans, saying that they now “have blood on their hands.”

Handler, a self-proclaimed political activist, posted a tweet about midterm elections, urging voters “to elect candidates that are not funded by the NRA” and “who won’t allow kids to go to school and get shot.”

Twitter users fired back at Handler for using the shooting to advance a “political agenda.”

One user praised Republicans for defending gun rights, arguing that guns themselves aren’t the problem.

The suspected gunman was identified as 19-year-old Nikolaus Cruz. He was arrested shortly after opening fire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

One of the teachers was interviewed when the situation was still active and she flat out said - The students were trained for this, there is nothing more that could have been done. I believe the government has let us down.

Whether you agree with her point or not, I thought it was a powerful statement and was surprised they left it in.

I don't know who she is and haven't heard 'her work'.

When people like her comment on super serious news events, my eyes kinda gloss over too.

I would rather hear from an FBI agent or even someone involved with analyzing social media. There are a lot more intelligent things to say and do than blame one political party as a whole for events like this.

fun fact ...I saw a site that outlined the shooting with maps/measurements etc....that dude shot from 400 yards away on a weird angle.

Vegas won some sort of ill timed award for best outdoor concert (unrelated) throughout the summer or some shit like that...
