SJW College Warns Saying “God Bless You” is Islamophobic

By Todd Starnes - FOX News

If you happen to be in the library at Simmons College in Boston – and somebody sneezes — whatever you do — don’t say “God bless you.”

That’s because the librarians believe that the phrase “God Bless You” can spark something worse than a microagression. They fear it could spark an Islamophobic microaggression.

That’s right, folks – saying “God Bless you” is considered a form of “Islamomisia.”

That bit of information is tucked inside the college’s Anti-Oppression Library Guide – an exhaustive collection of words and phrases that could trigger perpetually offended collegiate snowflakes.

Islamomisia is a fairly new malady that until recently was known as Islamphobia.

“In North America (and throughout much of the western world), people who follow Christianity have institutional power, therefore Islamomisia is a systematized discrimination or antagonism directed against Muslim people due to their religion or perceived religious, national or ethnic identity associated with Islam,” the document states.

It’s not an official college policy, mind you, but — you know the drill.

The librarians — a real sensitive bunch – warn that phrases like “God bless you” and “Merry Christmas” and “Happy Easter” can make Muslims feel slighted.

The resource guide also warned students to be wary of something called “Christian privilege.”

“In the United States and many other Western nations, Christianity and its various denominations and religious practices hold institutional and cultural power,” the guide states. “Christian privilege is the unearned benefit that Christians in the US receive that members of other faiths (or non-religious people) do not.”

For example, if you expect to get a day off on Good Friday or Christmas Eve — you have Christian privilege.

If you can worship freely, without fear of violence of threats, you have Christian privilege.

Clearly, the librarians at Simmons College have plenty of book smarts — but they don’t have the sense the Good Lord gave a goose.

    Bless their hearts.

I really don't think Muslims would find this offensive.

And worth noting that Islam is historically a tolerant religion, worshipping alongside other faiths, even when it ruled the region.

    Todd Starnes

Ooo, Fox has a Christian mole ( and a dishonest one at that)

Starnes began his journalism career as a teenager, sweeping floors for a small newspaper in Louisiana, but his post-college years included stints at Chattanooga Times Free Press and Blue Ridge News Observer. In January 2000, he was hired as a staff writer for Baptist Press, the news arm of the conservative Southern Baptist Convention and an outlet that no one will accuse of being “fair and balanced.”

At Baptist Press, Starnes proved to be both unashamedly conservative and journalistically unreliable. He published articles decrying “the homosexual agenda” in America, warning of “pro-homosexual attitudes” at Baptist colleges, and even bemoaned the “profanity, anti-God lyrics” of the band Nine Inch Nails. But Starnes landed in hot water in April 2003 when he published a profile of then U.S. Secretary of Education Rod Paige.

According to Starnes, Paige said he “would prefer to have a child in a school that has a strong appreciation for the values of the Christian community, where a child is taught to have a strong faith.” The profile spawned national headlines and created outrage both among civil-rights groups and church-state watchdogs. And when at least a dozen members of Congress publicly called on Paige to either apologize for the remarks or resign, the secretary almost lost his job..... Starnes was promptly fired by Baptist Press due to “factual and contextual errors” and “misrepresentations” in his reporting.

I dare these folks to loudly reply “ALAH AHKBAR” next time someone sneezes on a plane and see what happens.

This...and I've known a fair amount of Muslims. Most refer to their deity as God and being blessed is not offensive.

    and MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Ah yes, internet justice, morality, and the leftist playbook. Discuss the merits of the comment? Why do that when you can suppress speech and stifle voices?
I wanted to be a Monk, but I never got the chants.

But they don't have power so they can't be oppressive. Stay in your box, white male Christian.

I've had several Muslim friends. Whenever I've sneezed in front of them they'd say "God bless you", or "Jeez Ed, don't sneeze on me! Sneeze over there. That's nasty, dude."
