Fanboy Arnold Schwarzenegger confirms Terminator 6 shooting starts in summer

    Bang Showbiz

Arnold Schwarzenegger has confirmed 'Terminator 6' will start shooting this summer.

The 70-year-old actor starred in the original James Cameron movie as the titular character - a T-800 killer cyborg - alongside Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor and now a sixth film in the franchise is currently in the works with the two original cast members returning in their roles.

And now, the actor has confirmed to the fan site TheArnoldFans.com that shooting will start this year and he is ''looking forward'' to reprising his role.

He said: ''We are starting to shoot 'Terminator 6' in June to the middle of October, so I am in that.

''I am looking forward to coming back as the T-800 model. It's gonna be great with Tim Miller as the director and Jim Cameron is kind of supervising the whole thing.''

Cameron was at the helm for the original 1984 movie and sequel 'Terminator 2: Judgment Day', but was not involved in 2003's 'Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines', 2009's 'Terminator Salvation' or 'Terminator Genisys'.

Plot details are being kept under wraps but Miller and Cameron are reportedly treating the film as a direct sequel to 'T2: Judgment Day'.

In the original movie, Schwarzenegger played the villain but in the sequel his character was the hero.

Recently Schwarzenegger told fans of the sci-fi franchise that they can expect a return to the stripped down story of the cult classic.

Schwarzenegger said: ''I think James Cameron and Tim Miller came up with a concept where they can continue on with the T-800 but make a whole new movie.

''What they are doing now with this one is basically to just take a few very basic characters, like Linda Hamilton's character and my character, and dismiss everything else. Just move away from all these rules of the timeline and other characters.''

Good News Arnold Schwarzenegger Says 'Terminator 6' Will "Move Away" From "Rules Of The Timeline"

By Daniel Falconer - Contact Music

Arnold Schwarzenegger is one of the most recognisable action film stars of all time, thanks in part due to his leading role in the 'Terminator' movies that have hit the big screen to-date. Though he wasn't a part of 'Terminator: Salvation' due to his political career and time serving as Governor of California, he's returning to the franchise for 'Terminator 6'.

There, he'll reunite with director James Cameron as well as fellow star of the series Linda Hamilton, leaving fans excited to jump back into the world of 'Terminator' with some of the characters that helped make the series such a success in the first place.

When it comes to the plot of the movie, not much has been revealed, but if recent words from Schwarzenegger are to be believed, anything that happened following the events of 'Terminator 2: Judgment Day' will be snubbed.

Speaking with Business Insider, the actor teased: "I think [James] Cameron and Tim [Miller] came up with a concept where they can continue on with the T-800 but make a whole new movie. What they are doing now with this one is basically to just take a few very basic characters, like Linda Hamilton’s character and my character, and dismiss everything else. Just move away from all these rules of the timeline and other characters."

The comments will come as exciting words for the majority of fans who tried to make it through the 'Terminator' entries following 'Judgment Day', as they were critically panned and didn't fare well with the wider general public.

Director Tim Miller added of what we could expect: "I think the T-800 model is a really interesting character. He’s a machine, can be destructive, can do things human beings can’t do, but at the same time when newer technology comes along the character is suddenly vulnerable and that makes him even more interesting."

With multiple timelines to deal with, stripping everything back and going back to basics could be the best decision those working on the movie could have made. The passion everybody has who's collaborating on the film suggests we could be in for one of the most wild and pleasing rides the series has ever offered up.

'Terminator 6' is currently slated for release on July 26, 2019.

Update Diego Boneta Joins 'Terminator 6' Cast

By Daniel Falconer - Contact Music

Diego Boneta is taking up one of the key roles in the new upcoming 'Terminator' sequel.

The 'Terminator' franchise is one of the most beloved and celebrated sci-fi franchises of all time, and with creator James Cameron now working on the latest instalment in the film series, excitement is at an all-time high. Collaborating with Tim Miller on the piece, the movie will bring back Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton, as well as introducing a bunch of new characters.

Serving as a sequel to 'Terminator 2: Judgement Day', not much information surrounding the new additions to the cast has been revealed aside from Mackenzie Davis jumping on board, and even her character is shrouded in mystery. Some rumours suggest she could be a brand new Terminator fighting on the side of humans, but nothing has been confirmed.

Now, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Diego Boneta has also joined the cast in a key human role. We know he won't be the lead, as it was previously revealed a young female would be the primary focus of the film, but it looks as though he'll be enjoying quite a bit of screen time when the movie does make its way to the big screen.

With shooting on the film set to get underway in the very near future, more information surrounding just who's going to be involved in production shouldn't be too far away. For the first time in a while, 'Terminator' fans are excited about the series all over again, and for good reason. Let's just hope that those working on the new movie are going to tick all of the boxes for the fandom!

'Terminator 6' is currently slated for release on November 22, 2019.
