Man charged with threatening to 'kill hundreds' at Walmart

A South Florida man was taken into custody Tuesday after deputies said he threatened to "blow up, shoot, and kill hundreds of people" at a Melbourne Walmart.

When deputies arrived on scene at the Walmart located at 8500 N. Wickham Road, Luis Sanchez, 50, of Hialeah, told them he was angry the pharmacy did not have his prescription. The pharmacy technician told deputies Sanchez made comments to her that he was going to kill people at the store, according to an arrest affidavit.

Sanchez was charged with unlawful threat to discharge a destructive device and breach of peace.

The man chose not to speak in an audio recording with deputies, but afterward said, "everyone is going to die," according to his arrest report.

Sanchez was transported to the Brevard County Jail about 11 a.m. Tuesday, where he is being held on a $15,250 bond.
