Death toll in London’s violence hits 60 as teenager is stabbed to death in Forest Gate
Richard Hartley-Parkinson for Metro.co.uk
Police are investigating another fatal stabbing in the capital as a spate of violent crime continues.
The victim – believed to be an 18-year-old man – was discovered with serious injuries in Forest Gate, east London, on Monday.
Officers, paramedics and London’s Air Ambulance rushed to Chestnut Avenue at about 10.50pm.
The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene just over half an hour later.
It follows the fatal stabbings of two people in separate domestic incidents in the capital on Sunday.
Those deaths brought the number of murders in London so far this year, where the Metropolitan Police have publicly released details, to around 59.
The most recent incident has not yet been classed as a suspected murder.
It also comes after 11 homicides involving teenagers in London since the start of 2018.
These include the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Tanesha Melbourne-Blake earlier this month.
The schoolgirl was shot dead on a residential street on Easter Monday.
On the same evening, Amaan Shakoor, 16, became the youngest murder victim of the year so far when he was shot in an attack in Walthamstow.
Eighteen-year-old Israel Ogunsola was stabbed to death in Hackney just days later.
Officers are still in the process of informing the victim’s next of kin of Monday night’s stabbing, and formal identification and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
No arrests have been made.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to get in touch by calling 101, quoting CAD 8332/apr16.
