AMERICAN rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine is facing up to three years in prison for sharing a sex video of a 13-year-old girl after violating probation twice.

The 22-year-old, who recently featured Nicki Minaj on his FEFE single, pleaded guilty to "the use of a child in a sexual performance" after posting the video in 2015.

But the rainbow-haired rapper, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, has since been arrested twice after taking a plea deal - breaking his parole conditions.

The hip hop star was arrested in May this year for unlicensed driving, and was accused of assaulting a cop and obstruction of governmental administration.

The Manhattan District Attorney's office is now asking for the musician to be sentenced to between one and three years in jail - as well as requiring him to register as a sex offender.

Prosecutor Sara Weiss also argued the heavily tattooed rapper's social media posts "promote a culture of violence and glorify gang activity", Vulture reported.

The prosecution added: "(The) defendant’s behaviour undermines any argument that the interests of justice are served by relieving him from the onus of a criminal record."

Tekashi was initially charged after an incident involving a 13-year-old girl in October 2015.

The young girl was filmed "engaging in oral intercourse" with Taquan Anderson, who was also charged, while Tekashi was seen making thrusting motions with his pelvis behind her.

She was also seen sitting naked on Tekashi's lap while Anderson groped her breasts.

The 22-year-old was arrested for allegedly choking a 16-year-old in Huston's Galleria Mall in January when he returned from the European leg of his tour.

Earlier this year, Tekashi 6ix9ine was hospitalised after he was pistol-whipped, kidnapped and robbed of nearly £600,000.

After returning home from shooting a music video in his native Brooklyn, the rapper revealed two men blocked in his car before he was forced to hand over cash and jewellery or face being shot.

He later told The New York Police department that they then drove him back to his house and ransacked it for valuables in front of his ex-girlfriend and their daughter.

TMZ reported that two of the kidnappers looted his house, making off with £570,000 in jewellery and up to £15,000 in cash, while a third guarded him in the car.

The rapper escaped and visited the police station where he subsequently “became uncooperative” after filing his police report, and was later admitted to a hospital.

The rapper, whose name is pronounced "six nine", first began releasing songs in 2014 and gained mainstream attention for his style of aggressive rap mixed with anime visuals.

Before embarking on his music career, he sold marijuana to support his family after his father was murdered in 2009.

He rose to fame in late 2017 with the release of his debut commercial single Gummo which became platinum earlier this year, but his career has also been blighted by legal issues.
