CAMPBELLSPORT, Wis. (CBS 58) – Police say a man who led officers on a high-speed chase after allegedly stealing alcohol from a grocery store in Campbellsport gave himself up because the mosquitoes were so bad.

Campbellsport Police say officers were called to a theft of alcohol from the Piggly Wiggly. The suspect got into a car and the driver fled. Police said at one point, the car stopped and a passenger who was inside the car got out and ran away.

Later, police said the driver ran into a cornfield but gave himself up to police because he wasn't sure where he was at and the mosquitoes were so bad.

Police believe the suspect has stolen more than $1,400 worth of alcohol from the grocery store over the past month. Investigators are still looking for the passenger.
