Woman who thought she was Vampire Diaries character stabs 'werewolf' lover in chest

A woman who thought she was a vampire from a long-running TV series stabbed her new lover in the chest thinking he was a werewolf, it is claimed.

Ekaterina Tirskaya, 22, told police that she believed she was Elena Gilbert, a fictional character in US television fantasy drama The Vampire Diaries.

She and her lover had slept together for the first time after meeting on social media, a court was told.

The victim told her that he didn’t believe in the supernatural, and urged her to go home.

But she grabbed a knife and attacked him as he was getting out of the bath, according to reports.



Tirskaya, from Novosibirsk, Russia, has been jailed for the knife attack.

Psychological assessments ahead of her trial in Siberia found the hair treatment specialist to be sane, it was reported.

The morning after sleeping with the man, the woman suddenly “changed”, telling him she was a vampire and like Elena Gilbert, played by Canadian actress Nina Dobrev, she had a mission to kill werewolves.

One report said: “She grabbed a knife in the kitchen and suddenly attacked him when he was getting out of the bath.

“He managed to get hold of the knife.

“But she grabbed another one and stabbed him in the chest.”



He staggered out of his flat and banged on neighbours doors pleading for help.

They called an ambulance and police.

The man was gravely wounded but survived the February attack.

Prosecutor Felix Kuznetsov said Tirskaya was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison after being found guilty of inflicting grievous bodily harm.

She was also ordered to pay £3,900 in “moral damages” to her stabbed lover.
