The old drive-in theater not far from where I used to live when I was a kid. Sadly it's all been destroyed. It was always a HUGE deal when we were kids and we were going to go to the drive-in.

We had the Corral 4 Drive In. Four large screens in an unpopulated part of town and it was great. We used to go to the dusk to dawn shows and bring lawn chairs etc, really good times.

I remember when the drive in switched to using your car radio speakers rather than use the old thing that hung on the window. I had a 93 Sunbird with a great stereo and Jurassic Park was amazing.

There was just something about listening to a movie through those tinny sounding drive-in speakers though

And if you turned yours down, you could hear that drive in wide echo of the movie playing everywhere

I've always wanted to go to a drive-in but never had the chance. They just seem so quaint.

Ours was not considered quaint (I know what you meant) because of the size of the screens and the overall largeness of the experience. Back in the day before Imax and 3D, drive in screens were much larger than regular theater screens. Sitting in your car gave a person soooo much freedom to do things you could never do at a theater like drink, smoke weed, make out etc

That first pic makes the screen look kinda small. I know at our Corral 4, we did have some of the largest screens in Canada. They all faced different directions in a cloverleaf pattern, so you could see another screen if you really parked badly and crooked your neck

The pay booths were funny because it was really close to a larger border crossing setup. Two entry lanes broke off into eight lanes where you paid, then the lanes all went different directions according to which drive in you were headed for.

They never realized you could pay for movie A and then just get into movie C's lane after paying at the border crossing

I don't think I've ever been to one that has multiple screens.

Ours was on the SE edge of town real close to an oil refinery, which smelled bad at times if you were in the wrong part of the drive in.

Fun fact - Drive in opened in 1980 and closed in 1997...wait for it...due to an explosion/fire at the Hub oil refinery next door

Wow I've never seen an aerial shot of the area before. You can see the screens on the outer edges of each block.

Funny you all are talking about this, I was just reading posts on facebook about some friends that are going to the drive in tonight. I believe it has two screens and they do double features every night.

If you look at the aerial shot, my old drive in had a centrally located snack bar but the area was quite large.

My friend used to be lazy and just stand outside his truck door to take a whiz. That's when I started the tradition of honking his horn and flashing his lights every time he did that.

    The guy had no shame
