    I'm guilty of this hipster trend Wife got me a nice record player a couple years back and we inherited a ton of albums from her late father. It's so much nicer than just throwing on spotify when you're just hanging out and listening to music or have friends over. Love the sound.

    That said... I have no idea how to snag a specific song, I usually just let the whole record play

    The songs should be listed in order on the label or at least on the album cover. Looking at the surface of the record you should see a broader space between the grooves separating the songs. At the base of the arm there should be a lever that holds the needle up as you position it above one of the broad grooves. Once positioned, use the lever to gently lower the needle to the surface.

    Those wider, darker grooves on the surface are the song breaks. That's where you would try and drop the needle if you were looking to play a specific song.
