I tried to find a picture of one of those stupid monthly selection cards that you had to send back or else you would get that tape/CD sent to you but I couldn't find one. I guess since there was no Instagram back then, nobody was taking pointless photos of stuff for no reason.

My exchanges were different. I got the physical tape sent to me and then the clock was ticking if I wanted to send it back. I remember it specifically because they always sent me crappy hair/lipstick band tapes and I wasn't a fan of Poison, Cinderella etc

Ohhhhh...down here we got a 'monthly selection card' and a catalog/flyer of available stuff. You had something like 10 days to send the card back and if you didn't, they sent you that selection of the month (based on whatever you picked as your main genre of music). They knew that at least half the time you would forget to send those stupid cards back.

Here's a catalog though! Show's you how much their regular club prices were....and that was before they tacked on 'shipping and handling' which was like $2 or $3 each

I would get the selection card and the suggested tape always came with it. Maybe I ticked the wrong box somewhere when signing up?

No, I remember that's how it worked up here because I had to buy a magazine that explained the process of opting out by writing a registered letter to them. My method of leaving worked and I also recall the return process was brutal because I had to do it twice and pay up front with my own money.

Nothing like today where a company will send you a box, some tape and a preprinted shipping label to affect the return with a phone call to the courier.

I used to LOVE this magazine when I was a kid. Don't know if it's even still around since magazines are a dying medium.

I read tons of Mad magazines and Cracked. The satire was part of my formative years

They didn't flinch and would attack anything

Not having much money as a kid, this was my go-to chocolate bar because they seemed larger than most.

I used to put the whole thing into my mouth and wait for the 10 types of sugar rush

Man I love these and totally agree on the nostalgia.

When I was young my mom used to work a couple hours on Tuesday nights at her friend's accounting business, so it was boys night. My dad would wrestle my brother and I, maybe watch hockey, then we'd go poke around at London Drugs and hit the candy aisle. He and I would always get cherry blossoms. Good memories.

The Cherry Blossum was the flagship of my youth.

Nutritional content - minus 3000 in every category. Even the nuts in the chocolate were probably made of sugar

I don't think I ever had these when I was a kid, but I remember them for sure.
