Twitter users have raised concerns after images appeared of wrists being cut under the hashtag #Cut4Zayn.

The tweets started trending after it was announced today that Bradford-born star Zayn Malik had quit the group.

Although many images were poking fun out of the hashtag, many images were graphic in nature and Twitter users issued pleas advising people not to self-harm.

The Yorkshire Standard can reveal that the tweets that first mentioned #Cut4Zayn were in 2013.
