You roll dice in D&D? I thought you dressed up in costumes. what do I know.
I wanted to be a Monk, but I never got the chants.
Nope, not so much...
Bingo!
Lots of dice, actually!
There are different dice used for different weapons, for bonuses, and then also general dice rolls.
From the above picture, an explanation! Dice are identified by the number of sides they have, so a d6 is your normal die that folks use all the time, etc. d20 is the most commonly used. Most of the others are for weapons (damage), critical (extra) damage, or bonus healing. The percentage die doesn't get used a lot by anyone but the DM (Dungeon Master... the person who is running the game), and even they don't tend to use them all that much. They're used to determine the probability of an outcome... like getting attacked by a random group of monsters while your group of heroes is walking along a forest path.
The dressing up in costumes is either cosplay and/or live-action roleplaying (also called LARPing).

Have fun!

I edited my post to explain what D&D is a bit more. And LARPing is pretty much like Civil War Reenactments, except that they're fantasy-based instead of history-based. I've never done it, but I've heard that it can be a lot of fun.
That grasshopper just kicked my ass.
But Monty Python would be amused.
No they wouldn't have
