Anyone here use Steam to download and play games on?!
I just got it recently because a bunch of my friends were playing Bad Company 2
Talk about it here, and hit me up if you want to add me as a friend on Steam

I didn't play for a while but I used to play Counter Strike: Source A LOT...the more I think about it...might start playing again
P....O....S
surely you read my one and only experience with Steam?
Bought the disc (that had 4 gigs of files to install the game),
had to install their shite software server and then waited over 3 days..to install a bloody game I had already bought the DVD for!!!!!! %$#@!!!
Friday nite - purchase
Sunday afternoon - finally 'the server' allowed me to throw in the 5k worth of files to allow the game to run
This is after buying the DVD, not doing a straight pay and download from their site.
sorry GF, not a fan
Weird...used it for a few years...never had a problem with it Hal...
Their 'server' coupled with their Gestapo copy protection from hell is one of the major reasons I don't buy games anymore..
I suppose it would be ok if you don't mind downloading game files every time you install a game.I prefer an ISO copy I can install 5 times a year if I want.
I don't mind downloading it...just don't delete it
ahhh so you download your install files and can do multi-installs with it?
that makes more sense...I thought it was a one time shot when you downloaded their files.
I bought Portal...checked the DVD and it did have the installation files on the disc. But being Steam,
it made me wait to connect to the server before it let me install the game. You may understand my frustration....
I bought the actual disc and still had to wait 72 hours to install??
I was greatly offended by the experience
ouch! Yes you can multi-install it...I play CS:S (Digital copy...don't have an actual disc) Uninstalled it a while back...downloading it right now.
and whats' the average cost for games? You are talking pc games, right?
Yup PC games and its about the same as retail price with some promos once in a while on games
I bought BC2 two hours ago for 20$. It's 60% finished. Dl'ing at 750kb/s
Counter-Strike Source is 20$ too
I'm struggling with a big decision on buying a new pc....I play games sure, but not every night.
I could save so much by not buying a gaming pc (vidcard, power supply, ram, fans etc) and just buying an Xbox.
In that scenario I could buy a 24inch monitor I want anyways with an HDMI port and plug the console into that.
I'd have to actually BUY games in that case..something I may have to seek counseling for
idk, idk, idk
CS:S?Old?YUP! I know I just don't feel like buying a new PC for gaming when I have a ps3 that can do the same for just 300$ (ok graphics not as good...but I don't care! )
