FALSE! I know for a fact that the UK and Australia have higher violent crime rates. We are actually WAY down the list of countries for violent crime.

Maybe the author meant "gun crime" which is entirely different from "violent crime". Gun crimes are a large portion of our violent crime, but the overall violent crime rates are lower in the US than many other industrialized nations.
