Socialize her really well. Get her used to people and other dogs. Danes are great and really sweet dogs when they know you, but they can be really territorial with strangers. And I'm emphasizing really. If you don't want her eating any of the strays that wander into your yard by accident, just get her around other people and dogs as much as possible while she's still young.
I had a friend that had a Dane and he ripped apart a shih-tzu that wandered into their (wide-open) backyard. It was a mess. And the little dog didn't do nothing but walk up and sniff around. And I mean the Dane was really sweet. Towered over me, but was really cool with me. I was absolutely stunned when I saw it lose control.

Be sure to get a nice coat and hat for him...dogs LOVE getting embarrassed when they're out for walks

Lance is gonna get a big baby so it can eat all of the smaller, yappier babies on the block
The foster family sent us new pix of the puppy

cute
He looks tiny on that bed but in a couple years it'll almost be too small.
My wife's co-worker has a 3 year old Great Dane and it's HUGE! It also sits on the couch like a person. It's startling the first time he plops down on the couch next to you but you get used to it after awhile.
Lance..serious note
My friend had a Great Dane for years.....they can develop the same syndrome as Greyhounds where their esophagus gets twisted and cuts off everything making the dog very sick. It's a large chest, small waist sort of thing and sorry, I can't think of the name of the condition right now. It happened twice to his dog...and the dog was fine both times after seeing the doc.
