the film would have been better if they got rid of Travolta and his bad accent

Watched Fast& Furious 5 and 6 last night. About what I expected. Lots of laughs. A plus was I found a new crush: Gal Gardot.

    The Conjuring

It was ok. Not as scary as reviewers and ads would like you to believe. A lot of typical loud jump scares. There's some really hokie parts in it, mostly having to do with Ed and Lorraine Warren, who, if you don't already know, actually exist (or used to... Ed Warren died in 2006) and do (or used to) the whole ghost hunting thing. Funny thing is, when you know who James Randi is (not in the movie) and know what he had to say about the Warrens, it kinda puts a damper on things. They're trying to pass it off as a true story, but again, James Randi, etc etc etc... In any case, it was a good, if not overdone premise, and in some cases, it had semi-good execution, but overall I found it a bit lacking. If they didn't try to sell it as real, if they kept the Warrens out of it, and if they tweaked a few things here and there, then it might have been an awesome Halloween caliber haunted house horror movie. Unfortunately, they didn't. I will give them that they tried to rely on the creep factor entirely. There is little gore in it, which in my opinion, when the gore is lacking and the suspense and creepiness is done right, that works best in a horror film. So at least they tried. The overall atmosphere could've been a little more oppressive/better.

Oh yeah, maybe I should spoil this but

there was no conjuring of anything in this film so why the hell did they call it The Conjuring? To me, that's bad form.

I learned about the Warrens before Amity-ville Horror and used to think they were legit. Then I read how they had been debunked because they were fleecing some people....so I'm kinda on the fence about her abilities..

James Randi is a killjoy for a lot of things , still enjoy his intelligence and explanations.

Speaking of James Randi, has anyone heard about the latest Uri Geller movie? His psychic thing was just a cover because he was a secret agent And he used some of his darker abilities to take down other spys..

    I have to watch it

Watched "Olympus has Fallen" last night. Predictable plot, but pretty good anyway. 3/5
