I remember when I tried to figure out how to do it on my old Sony Vaio from the year 2000. I saw the cost and what was involved, and I was all like "Fuck that."

I think I paid $68 for the new screen. If it works it will be worth it. Even with the 50 bucks I'm charging to install it's still cheaper than buying a new one.

We use TiVo boxes at home (one main DVR box and 2 TiVo mini's for the other rooms) instead of the Comcast boxes to save some money because Comcast charges you an 'outlet fee' for every room you have one of their boxes in But the downside is, TiVo is at the mercy of Comcast for some things and Comcast has decided to declare EOL for the On Demand app that you can access thru TiVo and it ends at the end of the month. There's a Comcast app available for the Roku that you can actually use for live TV as well as all their On Demand stuff, so that's the new workaround for us. The Roku I had was too old to support the Comcast app, so I upgraded and will just move the older Roku to a different room.
