Oh damn. I do like a nice Sig.
From my Nextdoor...they are having a Solidarity March for Racial Justice
Check out the section on "rules" for white people:
What to bring: A sign to hold, a mask or other face covering, and water. Feel free to bring your family, and please remember to adequately protect yourself from the sun.
Ideas for signs:
-Black Lives Matter
-Stand up for Racial Justice
-In Defense of Black Lives
-End White Silence
-Justice Reform Now
-Say Their Names
-Defund Police **to understand the complexities behind this statement, here is one starting place https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/05/u...-protests.html
If you are a white person, DO NOT:
-Make a sign that says "I Can't Breathe" or "Hands Up Don't Shoot" (these are not our words to say)
-Destroy property or agitate police, as we know that it's Black and Brown bodies that feel the impacts when White people show up in that way.
DO:
-Understand that when you show up, you will be accountable to the voices and lives of BIPOC attendees before your own.
-Read and understand guidelines for Protesting as White Accomplices: https://bit.ly/372FmY1
This is a peaceful, socially distanced solidarity action. Physical or emotional violence of any kind will not be tolerated.
A message from Alex and Lauren: We are both white, and we feel that it is important to be open about our accountability as organizers. We organized this event because to our knowledge there are no upcoming BIPOC-led racial justice actions planned in or around Northglenn, and we feel it is important to stand against racism in this community. However, if you see a way to work for anti-racism by joining efforts led by BIPOC instead of attending this event, we encourage you to do so. We will be continuously researching ways this event aligns with the broader purposes of actions led by BIPOC, but please feel free to share any information you come across with us so we can make informed decisions. We absolutely welcome community input and feedback (in acknowledgement that it is not the job of BIPOC friends and neighbors to educate us.)
If you walk with us in solidarity on Saturday, come prepared to align your actions and attitudes with the commitments named above, and dedicate yourself fully to the sustained pursuit of racial justice in our community.
Help us spread the word!
Note to police: Please respect this peaceful solidarity action and take the time to consider our message.

That link for protesting as a white accomplice (apparently "ally" is no longer en vogue) is interesting (and quite condescending). This line fascinates me: "Prioritize protests that are not permitted/do not coordinate with cops. Cops drastically reduce the safety of BIPOC protesters"
And this link... um. okay. http://www.indigenousaction.org/acco...trial-complex/

I'll say whatever I damn well please. My words are whatever I choose them to be. If you don't like it then go fuck yourself. If you are a white person, DO NOT: blah blah blah blah (these are not our words to say)

Crap, my favorite and fastest growing client's head office burned down last night... sounds like maybe an electrical fire, they were in an old building that had just been renovated and the fire department said it had a bunch of weird enclosed spaces that made it difficult to put the fire out, so I think the entire office building is gonezo.
Thankfully nobody was hurt.
What a shit show this is going to make for them, I feel terrible, think they'd just re-opened too. Going to be a mess for me/our company to sort out with them too. Guess I'm working this weekend.

That sucks GF, but like you said, nobody was hurt, that's the most important thing.

Went and got a haircut today, then had lunch with an old HS buddy. It was really great catching up.

Just had a storm cell blow through (literally). Super high winds have my back yard full of branches and leaves, pea sized hail came down for several minutes, and a small bit of rain. Knocked the power off for a brief moment too.
