and?
I liked it. It was funny in spots. They went a little heavy on The Immigrant Song, but I guess with the Norse mythology, it had to come into play sooner or later. I bet they paid a pretty penny to have that Zep song in the film though. Keep an ear out for "Pure Imagination" from 'Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory'. It's an orchestration and fits the scene that it's in, but it threw me for a second. It was kinda like, "Wait a minute... is that a Willy Wonka song I hear?"
Was it better than the other Thor movies? 2 - The Dark World? Yeah, sure. But that really wasn't going to be that hard to accomplish. The first one? I'm not so sure. Some people say yes, some say no. Maybe in some respects but not in others? Was it better than other "good" Marvel films. Not really, but it didn't stink in comparison. There's a lot of cool comic shit in there that you wouldn't get from other Marvel movies, and from an Earth-bound adventure, although they did make it to Earth in the latter beginning (Dr. Strange ftw!). But it's not gonna usurp The Winter Soldier, Civil War, Iron Man, the first Guardians, et al...
Go see it. You and your boy will enjoy it. Like with other films, there are some scenes in the trailers that didn't make it into the movie. Sif's not in it. Apparently Jaimie Alexander got tied up in scheduling with her TV show Blind Spot. I was slightly disappointed there. I kind of have a crush on her. She's hot.
And no, your mind is not tricking you, that is Matt Damon in a particular scene. You'll know it when you see it. It's funny.

thanks for the review, we'll probably see it at a matinee over the weekend
i actually liked the first thor (let's not talk about thor 2), but neither one really piqued the interests of my boys
The Dark Tower
Should have been a trilogy at the very least.

terminator genisys.... what a pile of ass
Backcountry
Based on a true story about a bear attack in Canada.
Not great despite my love for the lead Missy Peregrym.
When the guy (in the movie, not real life) leading the hiking expedition doesn't want a map, makes fun of bear spray and flares, deliberately hides a cell phone back at the car...he's a moron.
Wind River
Story about a hunter on an Indian reservation in northern Wyoming who teams up with an FBI agent to solve a murder.
Not sure why this movie is rated so highly. Interesting story though and an accurate portrayal of a cold, snowy landscape.
Slow and ultimately depressing.
Justice League
Meh, it was ok. Predictable.
I still say Gal Gadot is a terrible actress.

i'm surprised you gave dc anymore money
my kids have ZERO interest in seeing that one...
Joss Whedon was involved in it, and the reviewers were saying that it was better than the earlier crap they put out. I wanted to give it a chance. I sincerely doubt I'll go to see any more of them.
And seriously, she may be eye candy, but Gadot sucks as an actress.
The kid that plays the Flash was pretty good, but the problem is you've already seen all the really funny scenes in the previews. The entire fucking movie was practically in the previews and the fucker was like 2 hours long. Furthermore, it's 2 fucking hours long and it still felt like some junk needed to be fleshed out a little better.
The whole time I'm watching Momoa, I'm thinking of the Big Bang Theory Halloween episode where no one wants to be Aquaman. It's not that Momoa was bad, I just couldn't get Raj out of my head saying, "Man, Aquaman sucks."
The dude who played Cyborg felt like the token black guy. I kinda feel bad about saying that because the guy is supposedly a good actor. But you can't help but compare him to Chadwick Boseman, Anthony Mackie, and/or Don Cheadle. They just had better material to work with.
There were several characters that were cut from the film and I'm really wondering why. How can you cut Willem Dafoe out of a fucking film? He makes the films he's in better!?! Maybe they'll release an extended Bluray or something with more scenes like they did with BvS.
Wait for the down-rent... or it'll probably be out on a streaming service sooner or later.
Oh well, Star Wars will be out in a few weeks. Palate cleanser.

thanks for the thorough review. i was debating whether to try to convince my kids to go to it over the next few days when they are off from school, but clearly won't bother
my oldest saw the new thor with his friends, but i have not had a chance yet
BTW: i was in germany last week, so i have a list of movies to add in a little bit
Get Out
This movie was one review away from a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and I can't understand why
Lots of eye acting and smiles and a reasonably interesting story. Certainly didn't merit the ultra high score or accolades it's getting.
Racism and some humor, something else lurking...it all seemed like I've seen it done better already in other movies.
I liked that flick
