Yeah this guy writes like I think. I don't go in watching shows wanting to make checklists of what doesn't match the old ideas, but as he alluded to sometimes the show just throws that crap in your face.

He listed so many good points. My favorite was the line about all three of them being engineers, so why not find a way to open the doors numb nuts

    Have you watched Shameless lately?

I forgot about sexy Saru! And how about him laying around in his tight jeans doing his best Adam Levine imitation?

Yup, exactly. Some of the stuff is so glaring that it's pretty much impossible to ignore.

No, we haven't started watching it since the second half of the season started back up.

That whole scene with him and Burnham in his terrarium of a quarters was just SO cringe-worthy

I'm trying to think of just ONE thing that was hard science on the episode

It was the drill in the head that really got me. I was laying there half asleep and Stamets starts with the old school stuff and explaining real quicklike they can't put her out or stop the pain.

It was like - Sucks to be you Tilly, hold your breath RIGHT NOW CUZ THIS IS GONNA STING!

And did you notice the distinct lack of blood? Anyone who has even gotten a cut on their head anywhere knows it bleeds lick crazy. That must have been the special edition Dewalt Cordless drill with cauterizing drill bits they were using

It's kind of a shame, because I want to like the Saru character, he seems to have depth that they are slowly working on. But then they give us a scene like that one FFS.

"frankly I don't get a lot of the criticism from the first season"...you mean other than the lead actor disobeying her commanding officer, fighting her commanding officer, killing over 8000 people and getting convicted for the crime, then retaining an officer's position on a starship?

Or how about the little things like people on the bridge of a starship in orbit seeing (without sensors) two sets of footprints on the planet below during a 100 mile wide duststorm?

And he's comparing the writing to that of BSG

Yeah, maybe the 1970's version of BSG with all it's campy hokiness
