I liked it for the most part.I think it could have been a much better movie if they focused on the sci-fi references.It seemed to me they tried to make it edgy by inserting the f word every 10 seconds...
I like Simon Pegg and Nick Frost but felt their talents were largely wasted in a good effort.
Yeah... I'm pretty sure the language was mostly due to the fact that Seth Rogen did the voice for the alien. It seems like that guy can't do anything without swearing every other word. They come up with awesome stuff whenever they're together. Oddly enough, though, I'm not a big fan of either of them as actors when not paired with each other... :-k

Couple of good 'jump' moments, the best one being when id forgotten i was burning a film to disk on the pc (speakers were on pretty loud from earlier music listening) using convertxtodvd......... at a part in the film where the tension was building suddenly, at full blast, i heard "OPERATION HAS BEEN COMPLETED" :lol: Nearly shit myself :mrgreen:

So, the scariest part of this film isnt actually in this film :lol: Overall, not too bad though, ive seen a lot worse ghost/paranormal movies........ 6/10? :-k

ohh i agree with you Lanc, the dude was a total jackass! he kinda had it coming i supose in some way.

i wouldnt call it an uplifting film either by any means. i just enjoyed the 90odd mins it was on for, and enjoyed watching him build up to the actual removal part. the Mrs said as soon as Franco opened his mouth that he seemed like an ass . . . . even said she saw a younger me in him :shock:

i used to to a lot of mountain biking a while back, and would fall guilty of not telling her where i went, just leave a note saying . . . "gone for a play back soon" (soon for me can be an indefinate amount of time :/ ) more often than not i'd take my phone with me, but as i live in the mountains, signal isnt exactly the best, and i'd often be doing something stupid and ignore her txts untill i a) fell off and had time to check the phone or b) stopped for a breather.

i had a similar, much much much less dramatic awakening to my stupidity one time i was out on the bike. now bear in mind my shrink has said i lack the ability to rationalise stuff, i tend to do stupid stuff a lot!, i saw this MASSIVE downhill route at one part and decided to go for it without a moment to think about the end result.
so i'm hitting 60ish mph downhill and get to the bottom and theres a massive trench, i see it, try and jump it, clip the back wheel on the landing . . . go flying a few feet over the handle bars and somehow take 3inches of skin and flesh from my ankle to my shin right down to the bone.
checked the bike, it was busted, checked fone reception. battery dead. what followed was a 2 mile ish limp home with a hole in my shin dragging my busted bike behind me.



i now know better, now i have downhill racers shin guards and an ipod on me at all times with one of them location apps so she can check if i dont check in every hour or so :)

Yeah, the hubby fell in love with it just about, so his opinion of it is better than mine, but I still definitely enjoyed it. Seeing it in iMAX was awesome too. Other than a few good images and jump scares, I'm not sure why critics gave it such high praise.I liked the way it was filmed, focusing more on atmosphere rather than blood n guts.
I didn't care for the explanation given later in the film of why things were happening.With some tweaking I think this could of been a terrifying movie.

The King's Speech

It was interesting and Colin Firth did a good job...not sure why the movie is rated so highly tho.I found it rather trite that on the eve of World War 2 the man's (and the movie's) focus was entirely on public speaking
and it was a rather minor 'disability' at that, considering the opportunities that life afforded him.

There was some mild humor between Firth and Rush that made me smile...otherwise I can't recommend this.
