How was the drag racing at the weekend mate?

2 old fellas from our bowling club won the County pairs on saturday :cheers: I was cheering (and beer-ing 8-[ ) them on all the way........ good celebrations :lol: Me and my 2 mates won in the 3rd round of a big triples comp yesterday, into either the quarters or semis which is tomorrow night :tup: Finals are on sunday so i'm not sure if we have to play again on thursday provided we win tomorrow night :-k

It was good, really hot as usual...seems like the heat always manages to roll in for that weekend every year. The heat kept all the speeds down, but towards the end of the day the temp went down and we saw some good speeds and times. Several over 300 mph at the end.

The problem with doing something like that for me is, I'm always dealing with the paperwork on my desk, quoting jobs, reading prints and what not, that it would make it inconvenient to have the desk so far down while I was standing up.

But load of driving today. Left the house at 04:30 heading to a rig build yard in Eunice, Louisiana. Just got into Louisiana and got turned back to a rig close to Houston. Got that rig fixed in an hour, then continued on towards Eunice. Found about half the equipment motors there are bad. Rig has been stacked (storage) for 2 years, and was not properly maintained. Only some of the equipment was in Eunice, the rest is near Shreveport. So, now I'm in a hotel in Alexandria and will drive to Shreveport tomorrow, check out the rest of the junk, then, if that doesn't take all frigging day, drive 6 or so hours home.

Probably........ although teams like Man Utd and Roma will charge excessive amounts to come over and play so i guess they need to cover the costs somehow. Still outrageous for a friendly match........ mind you, English football is daylight robbery anyway, tickets to watch the likes of Man U, City, Chelsea, Spurs are £60+.......... then you consider that it's <£20 to go watch Bayern Munich play a home league game plus your ticket entitles you to free travel on public trains and buses in a 10-20 mile radius of the stadium! Expensive in Scotland too tbh, hence the reason most grounds are more than half empty for most league matches nowadays.

It's crazy what the cost of sports tickets are no matter what you want to see any more. About the only thing that's reasonably priced in this country is baseball, and that's only because there are 81 home games every year. If I wanted to get good seats at an Avalanche (hockey) or a Nuggets (basketball) game here, it would be well over $100/each....and don't even get me started on trying to get Broncos tickets.

And what makes the soccer match pricing even worse is, they are playing in the Bronncos stadium, not the Rapids soccer stadium so they are playing at a 72,000 seat stadium and still raping people on tickets. :wha:

...then the mammoth task of figuring out how to route all the signaling through this fuggin thing....which entails figuring out what customizations in wiring have been done, because most of the neve boards out there are basically hand built custom jobs...ugh...

here's a fun tidbit, there's all these specialty knobs on it made in switzerland, "best knobs in the world"...so there's what, 2 or 3 on each EQ module...(x24 :lol: )found the price if we had to replace them and its so astronomical it isnt even funny. $1200 new....for one fuggin potentiometer :lol: all gold plated and shit. and supposedly re-plating is expensive also...but the good news there is that these knobs dont appear to have been twisted much at all, 95% of them are absolutely pristine, so it doesnt look like we'll be having that problem to deal with, thank frick.

Got a fuggin show to play tomorrow night...my older band is playing it, and we aint ready, at least I dont think. I told those guys the other day they were on drugs for thinking we were ready for a show. But since the big man in our other band cut the shit out of his hand, we had to jump up and try to get ready.
