Returned it and bought an LG instead. The picture quality when watching sports and anything with brighter colours was excellent, but i tend to watch a lot of darker/horror films etc and that backlight bleed i just couldnt live with. Read through a heap of reviews on it and noticed one other review saying basically the same as me. Might be better on the model you're looking at but i'd have a good read of reviews and check for bleeding before buying :) Not a well known brand but apparently they're the 3rd biggest manufacturer of tvs in the world behind Samsung and LG.

I know, I'm always a bit wary of trying an "off brand" piece of electronics. Like you said, they're huge in Asia and one of the biggest manufacturers in the world even though no one has really heard of them. I'm looking at the reviews on the site though and everyone seems to love it, especially for the price.

I planned on getting the 55" version of this TV after seeing multiple reviews online (rtings is a really good source for TV info). It's quality is the same or better than TV's that are much more expensive. When I saw the 65", I decided to just give it a go.
Pros:
-The 4K looks great
-No ads
-HDR looks decent
-Smart TV functions work well
-Color is accurate with little tweaking
-4K upscaling for 1080p or lower content works REALLY well
-Got it for 750 (675 after My Bestbuy rewards) when the next cheapest option around the same quality is $1100. This is the absolute best value on a TV this size.
Cons:
-Legs are a bit scary. I ended up mounting it on the wall
-Light-bleed is very noticeable when the screen is black. This is the reason I gave it 4 stars. I knew it would probably be the case based off of the few reviews available on the internet. I wish I could give it 4.5/5 because this isn't a big issue when the screen isn't black.
-Local dimming is not effective. The Edge-lit local dimming dims the whole back light at once, not by zone. Not a deal breaker, though.

Depends if you can live with the light bleed on blacks i suppose as it seems it must be the same across the board. I couldn't fault the picture quality though :)

When it's a dark scene in a film there's a real halo effect around the edges of the screen, ie, the backlight is bleeding through the picture - only really annoying in dark scenes though.

I just can't take much more, And they changed our hours from 7-4 to 8-5 which starting in 3 weeks is going to directly conflict with my responsibilities on the island I've worked hard to build. The spring boat schedule has the last boat leaving at 6:15 fridays, can't make that leaving at 5. I've been doing 8-10k/year on the island (weekends only) the past few years, I don't want to give that up just to keep a shit job I hate.

It's not gonna ever get any better at this job, the only decisions I have to make are whether to move laterally to another shop (not much out there right now) and keep the house, or plan on selling the house and work on the island summers, make as much as I can and possibly winter in South Carolina with my Aunt. She could definitely use some help down there since my Grandmother passed away. Ideally I'd like to get fired, collect a check for the summer and do a test run on the Island, maybe find a roommate to keep an eye on the house and split the bills since I wouldn't be here much.
Selling the house would be a huge undertaking, I've got 20 years of stuff here and don't want to sell all of it and wouldn't have space for it at the island place.

Current house mortgage+bills $1500/month, bills on the island $300/month max. That's $18,000 a year I wouldn't be spending if I sold this place.
Good news is I currently have about 9 months pay in my savings, gives me a bit of buffer.
