the OS itself went quick, Norton etc...but the damn Windows updates were still dodgy.
After the 100th update, it kept saying I was up to date and then BANG - you need another 3 updates...

Hours are calculated in units, there are six, ten minute units in hour.
I start at 9am...if I hit the clock at 9:01, it defaults to 9:06.

On the other hand if I stay late it doesn't start calculating OT until 1/2 hour after my regular end time.....

What the system really encourages is line ups of drones at the time clock...they all get there a few minutes early, stand and wait and then scan.
Same for coming in early...guys will stand outside or whatever until "THEIR TIME" and then swipe.They don't get paid for coming in early so why be nice?

It makes for disgruntled employees who arrive and work based on the shitty clock system, not based on the workload.

Did some digging and found out other companies that use electronic scan systems take off up to 15 minutes for one minute of missed time.

Head of HR's response - The employee shouldn't be late in the first place..
My counter - If we don't get paid when we're early or when we stay late, in addition to being penalized additional minutes that we've actually worked,
the resulting environment will encourage drones that never stay late or come in early, regardless of the company's future needs...

and that's what we have...you could set the sun by some of my coworker's scan times.....in at 7am exactly, out at 330 pm exactly...no deviation for months :lol:

I had to clock in/clock out at the previous place i worked....... also had to clock on to every different job i was working on :| Got to the point where i just stopped doing it :dance: Got called into the managers office a few weeks later and received a verbal warning for it - so, when i got home that night i phoned a guy locally who runs his own bodyshop and he offered me a job right there and then :dance: (decent pay rise too). Went in the next day and handed my swipe card to the manager and said "I wont be needing this any more".......... he looked at me strangely and asked why - "because i'm quitting" :dance:

Place i work at now has no clock in/out crap, i dont have to fill in a timesheet at the end of the day either :dance: .......... i do have to do a lot of estimates, jobcards, invoices etc though :-k :| :( :lol:

Our production areas have to fill out time sheets...to the minute (printing industry, presses, bindery etc)
Those poor buggers in bindery have to account for everything, down to the minute.

I'm paid by the hour. We had to clock on and off jobs so they could see how efficient each employee was - job has been estimated to take 3 hours, we had to do it in that time basically (similar to what PP was talking about)

I was told at my last job it's for insurance purposes. For example if I get hurt on the job it's a written record that I was actually there. My current job I don't clock in/out, don't do paperwork etc. none of the BS I don't get paid for. I just track my hours/jobs and turn in a pay sheet on Friday. We even have people to sweep my floor, take out my trash, bring me cars and my parts get brought right to me. Keep me working on cars and both the company and I are more profitable. Too bad my old boss didn't think that way.

Anyway, time for me to hit a shower and hit the road! Hope everyone has a great holiday!

Had an old boss like that.My finish time was 6:30 pm, I asked to leave one night at 6 pm for a dental appointment...
He breathes heavy, makes a sound of disgust and then says - Well... I guess someone has got to stay here to run the company.

and then tells me to get out of his office.

He eventually paid for his asshole attitude later...and I was front and center when it happened :shifty:

Do I do my fair share of goofing off at work? Of course I do, but I look at it this way, if they aren't gonna let me take time off, then I'm gonna make it up somewhere else. Besides, I never let anything get in the way of my job. When I am truly busy, I am hardly online, but when I have nothing to do, I'm not going out in the shop to sweep the floor.
