Turns out, as my boss and I just realized today, to get licensed to sell insurance you need a certified criminal record check. That's going to take 2-3 weeks, and I can't talk to customers until then. What's more frustrating is that my ID says I live in Victoria and to get the record check in the works I need ID that says I live in this municipality.. even though it's a federal police force :roll:

So who knows that's going to happen... a seemingly minor detail could cost me 2-3 weeks of lost work. Fuck fuc

One of them, my mom's uncle, is an ex-Philadelphia Police Department lieutenant and the fact that I can say that has gotten me a lot of leeway in a few situations, even here in Georgia. You can hate on cops all you want, but when you have a well-known and respected cop in your family tree, it works in your favor.

It's an issue because ICBC (our DMV) is closed weekends and I can't even get the ball rolling on a records check until Monday... and from there it could take 3 weeks :wha: So it's all kind of a clusterfuck between the RCMP, ICBC, the Insurance Council of BC (another ICBC :lol: ), my new employer and myself...


But...
I just did something sneaky :lol: I called in a favor with my uncle who is a cop.... I'm not one to drop names or call in favors if I can avoid it, but he's going to do me a huge solid. He said he's pull up my stuff on Monday and send it my way :mrgreen:

I lucked the fuck out it seems...

I have to get criminal checks done too...fingerprints, the works.We had to go to a special RCMP office in the city here.Those people sure reminded me of why I hate effin bureaucracy :lol:
Our HR department put all of the necessary info on the forms and still these guys started whining about forwarding the info on to another government agency on our behalf....we've only put
about 300 employees through the exact same process before :lol:

At one point I was so frustrated waiting there (after making appointments, bringing all correct documents etc) that I told the guy I'll use the machine myself and take my own prints as he seemed 'busy'.:lol: He wasn't amused and said that he didn't appreciate my humor....my deadly serious response - You are tasked with taking my prints, forwarding one document to another government agency via email which I have kindly supplied the address for and I've been here for over two hours...I don't understand the difficulties you're experiencing with the process.
