BTW, My stress level has dropped considerably! Our place on the islands is rented every weekend until Labor day, I've been trying to find other accommodations for minimal cost so I can continue to go up. Finally got through to a guy last night, He manages a number of villas up there. Told me for 50 bucks I can stay in one he considers "unrentable". Only catch is I have to be OK with sharing it with the guy he hired to drive the shuttle bus. A $400 villa for 50 bucks? yea, I'm OK with a roommate. :tup:

BTW it's "unrentable because of minor issues like worn carpet, broken blinds, no linens etc. I checked it out two weeks ago and the water heater, AC, fridge, all the necessities are OK.

I think so, two weeks ago he told me "it's unlocked use it when you want, just call and let me know". I've got a key to yet another villa but there is restrictions on that one from the owner (no friends, parties etc) but I've moved my stuff over there to have access to my tools, blankets bath necessities. Also have been told by a number of other owners I'm welcome to use theirs for free as long as they aren't rented but I'm really getting tired of calling around every week to see whats available. For $50 this seems like the best long term solution. We will see if it works out.

Yea, he worked the ticket window for the boat last year, he's kinda goofy but harmless. He may not be staying there full time, this is the busiest weekend of the year (xmas) so the guy Im getting it from was having issues finding elsewhere for him to stay. He was at 100 bucks for me to use it with friends. so it's a fair deal, just basically pay the electric bill.

On the upside it will cover all the bills and probably put a little money in my pocket, on the downside I didn't expect him to book 8 consecutive weekends, it feels like I've been evicted from my own place and has been a pain finding alternative housing. I'm still going up often, just not every week. Also considering we do not have a regular cleaning girl we're counting on the renters to pick up after themselves and me to check as often as I can to make sure it doesn't get tore up.

Personally I would like to rent to friends only just enough to cover the yearly costs.

Yep, coming home from vacation is always the bummer. Not that I'd really know. Haven't had a real trip vacation with the family in years.

Last time I took more than a weekend with the family was about 10 years ago. That was 5 days in SoCal. I did take 2 weeks off when I changed jobs 6 years ago, but spent the time working around the house. We tend to more small weekend minications than full blown vacations. Dunno why, just seems to always work that way.
