Having said that,I know that when you're working, you don't always get to take advantage of the best that places have to offer.

I couldn't tell you much about Dubai itself. I got off the airplane and rode straight to the shipyard here in Sharjah (suburb of Dubai) and am staying on a rig here at the yard. I've heard Dubai is very nice, but quite expensive as far as tourism goes.
Dubai is pretty well safe, otherwise I wouldn't have came here. That said, like any large metropolis, there are areas you don't want to go in.

I know what you mean. We don't always get to visit the best areas for all kinds of reasons.
I had a buddy who took his R&Rs in Dubai when he was a military contractor. I think the biggest attraction for his was the prostitutes. :lol:

I've been lots of places that were nice, or pretty or interesting that I never would have visited if I weren't working there. It's kind of like a paid vacation sometimes.
The job I worked in Oct and Nov was on the coast of SC but I was working 7 days a week, 12 hours a day, so I didn't get to do much. Took half a Sat off to spend with my hubby. Went out drinking and eating with my coworkers a couple of times.

Only other thing I'd try first is the filter (if it has an external filter: not in the tank) I had one clog on my wife's old prelude years ago. Was running down the road and car shut off. In her case there was very little pressure as well. Went to the auto parts store, and had it changed in 15 mins. Ran fine after that.

Yeah, thank fuck!! Went round to my mates garage after work tonight, he's recently broke up with his missus of 16 years :wha: She called it off a couple of months ago with the "I still love you, just not in love with you anymore" line......... then he found out a few weeks later that she'd been seeing some wanker behind his back. They have a 9 year old kid too so it's a bit messy.......... my mate's head is all over the place, poor guy :( I only found out last week when i popped in to see him since he hadn't been in touch for a while (normally calls me every week or two for a chat etc)........ obviously his mind's been elsewhere!

Listened to him for four hours spilling his heart out :( The annoying thing is that he's such a good guy, great with the kid, does everything for the missus etc......... he never saw it coming! So now he's living on a friends sofa bed until he gets his new cottage in January while this knobshite has already practically moved in to his old life :|


Anyway........... was meant to be working on another mates car tomorrow night/sat morning but he called off........ dunno if im glad or not, could do with the extra money but could also do with a weekend to myself :lol:

Yep, sure does :( I think my 'ear' helped him a bit though, he certainly seemed in a better frame of mind when i left tonight so that's something i suppose :) He's spending a lot of time at the workshop atm so i'll probably pop round for a coffee every few days just to check he's ok etc......... i know he'd do the same for me :)

Friday morning here. Still waiting on them to turn on power or start Emergency generator so I can check the rest of my stuff. Received email form my shop stating the remaining 2 items should be here next week sometime. Hopefully it's towards the beginning or middle of week, and can get installed and get out of here the following week to be home Christmas.

Hahaha, I wouldn't call the area I'm in beautiful, if you've seen a shipyard anywhere, they all look about the same. I flew in at night, so didn't get to see anything then, and haven't been out of the yard since I got here.
As for the big bucks...well, my wife makes a goodly amount, I just get an allowance, lol
