I seem to be pretty good at glueing myself to things :lol: I've done far worse things at work.......... had a bottle of paint stripper explode in my face once! It had been sitting in sunlight and unknown to me it had pressurised........ i went to take the cap off and the cap kinda exploded off along with a bunch of paint stripper right in my face! Most scared ive ever been in my life, felt like boiling water had been poured in my face! Thank fuck i had my goggles on at the time or it couldve been bye bye vision :shock:

Closest I came to losing an eye was back at the machine shop I worked at in Vermont. I was back in the steel rack area looking for some stock and I didn't notice one of the steel rods wasn't pushed all the way in, even though it was at eye level. Walked right into it....but luckily I had my safety glasses on. Put a long deep gouge in them though.

I've been to the ER a couple of times, both through stupidity (not wearing safety glasses when grinding) - first time they managed to get the bit of metal out easily enough, second time i had to be referred to the eye specialist - they clamp your head in a vice, shine a bright fucking light in your eye then go to work on you with a huge fucker of a needle :lol: Had to wear an eye patch for a few days after that and use eye drops for a couple of weeks! Fucking hated those eye drops.........

I managed to get black windscreen primer on my face one day too :facepalm: The primer had hardened over near the top of the bottle so i stuck a screwdriver through it to break the seal and get into the primer.......... yep, it just splashed straight up onto my face :facepalm: Spent the next 5 minutes wiping my face with paint thinners........ which was fun :|

I was able to get one of the PLC CPUs working last night here at the hotel. Back out to the rig now to find out what is wrong with the PLC rack which seems to be the culprit. With any luck, It'll be something they have spare, and I can get it operational, then head to Ardmore Ok. I'm in Weatherford Tx now.

Yep, Flat Rate pay is almost like I'm an independent contractor, Ins Co and our estimator writes the estimate, I get paid what's on that estimate regardless of how long it takes me. It's all based in "hours". Book time states it pays 1 hour to replace a mirror, I get paid 1 hours pay no matter if the job takes me 10 minutes or 4 hours.

The upside is in a busy shop I can make 60-100 hours pay in a 40 hour work week. Downside is if there is no car to work on I make nothing. Plus it's a constant battle with insurance companies to get paid for everything I do.

BTW, I'm home now, the customer never dropped his truck last night so it's officially Friday!

Ins companies are teh bytch. When I was t-boned in the SRT4, the other persons ins company wanted to use "used" parts to repair my car. I told them the car was only 6 months old, plus there were only 2500 of them made over a 3 year period. Good f-ing luck finding used parts. Did wind up getting all new parts though! :lol:

Good news on the job front. Finally was able to isolate the problem with the PLC CPU. It was an 8 channel input card (not showing any faults) that was causing the CPU to fault for some reason. Now looking to see if there is a replacement local or if I have to hot shot one out of Houston.
