Hogmanay/New Year has always been a pretty big thing over here (especially in Scotland) - we tend to enjoy it far more than christmas :lol: Just a good time to catch up with loads of friends and family (everyone i know is going to the village sports club tomorrow, should be good craic :tup: Plenty food and drink, disco/karaoke plus footy on the big screen then the World Darts Final at night) and get blootered :lol:

Last day off. Back to the madhouse tomorrow. Not looking forward to it at all. Will just be two of us for the first week, then a new guy (not just new to my company, but new to oilfield service work) and we'll have to babysit/train him. Also just found out my foreman has been bumped down (kinda figured that to happen) so won't have a foreman until they decide what to do about it. Good news is they've stacked (stored) a couple of the rigs, so, only have 25 to keep running now. :lol:

New job, I work two weeks , then off two weeks. So in essence, I only work 1/2 year, but get paid for a full year. Now that the holidays are over, I'll probably work a few of my days off in Houston where the rigs are built. Also have to come up with a training program for some of the older style rigs that I'm familiar with and will travel to the different regions on days off to train the other techs.

We have 11 radiant heaters and 3 units run off the boiler on my side of the building, Only 4 of the radiant heaters work, the rest have been broken for years. The ones run off the boiler help but only blow lukewarm air.

Yeah, they do...it's an epidemic everywhere. Growing up in Vermont we almost never got to use any of our snow days. Not for snow, and not for cold. About the only thing they canceled school for was when we would get a bad freezing rain storm and that was only because they couldn't get the buses out on the roads.

That didn't matter to me though because I lived too close to school (about 1/4 mile) and therefore had to walk to school.

I work in one of the 2 nurseries and we have to adapt everything they insist on us using to suit the nursery, including the budget and it is a nightmare! They fail to understand that our occupancy levels change throughout the year and they will question everything we put on it to the point were we will have to fight our corner on numerous occasions, oh the joy

Yep, my samsung 840 ssd cost over £150 for a 256gb......... and it's faulty already :| Bought a WD velociraptor to replace it with, that wasn't the cheapest either tbh but i wanted a decent mechanical one!

I think i've just had back luck with them, first one i had was just a 64gb one from Crucial, used it purely for OS and progs but it gets full pretty quick and died on me within a year. This samsung one i only bought in september :wha: Think i'm gonna drop it off at my mates shop and get him to test it.......... funny thing is, it looks fine when i open it up through my hd dock, everything seems to be there (windows + programs) but it just doesn't want to boot :sad2:
