You woke up about the same time i went to sleep  What time do you normally head off to bed? I usually go to bed around midnight, sometimes earlier if i'm beat. Alarm goes off at 7am, over to the workshop for an 8am start.

Teh One Who Knocks

I usually try to be asleep between 9 and 9:30, but it's usually closer to between 9:30 and 10...alarm goes off at 3:15.

But this morning Pepper woke me up at 2:15 because she had to go out.

Just started taking the Neve apart and doing capacitor inventory...looks like I'm going to have somewhere in the neighborhood of 1200 caps to replace on this fuggin thing. The EQ units have like 40 in each one (22 units, last 2 tracks have compressors, only about 12 caps...)

my guitarist was like "I hope this thing actually does sound *that* good"

and the way I saw that, dude, when we looked for tubes for your hughes & ketterner, we went and said "what's the most sought after, best sounding EL34" and fuckin a they were right, the Mullard XF2 double halo getters really are worth 75 bucks a tube, if you're that concerned with your sound. this Neve is the mixing board analog, what's the best most sought after mixing board? fucking Neve. I dont see how the entire industry could be wrong.

just saw a 5350 on ebay recently, the dude was asking $43k for it  he didnt get it.

Rough day yesterday. We almost lost my best friends daughter. She's like a daughter to me. Known her since she was 5. She was driving to school yesterday and got in a wreck. Got pinned in the car and was unconscious. Passerby stopped and pulled her out as the car was on fire. She was in a coma all yesterday, woke up this morning. Still has bleeding on her brain, multiple bone fractures, etc. She's in icu at memorial Herman in Houston, one of the best trauma center in the state, and prognosis is good as of now. She's talking, but not yet fully cognizant.

some story about a person buying a coffee, throwing the cup in the trash and then someone noticed that they didn't roll up the rim

garbage picker takes cup and rolls up the rim, wins 10000 bucks....

they go to court, who's right?

Teh One Who Knocks
02-26-2014, 07:23 PM
The guy who pulls it out of the garbage, once you toss it, you relinquished ownership. Prove that was the cup you just tossed in there compared with all the others that are likely in the trash.

Hal-9000
02-26-2014, 07:28 PM
That was how it played out (with lawyers no less). Once you relinguish garbage, it's no longer your property.

The person made a big deal about buying it and then tried to show a chain of ownership right up until the cup hit the city dump (if it went that far).

Judge said nooooo, garbage picker was the rightful owner

If you have a winning lotto ticket, the only way to keep ownership before you cash it is to immediately sign the back. If you lose it and it hasn't been signed, then it's finders keepers.

I'm pretty sure, at least here in the States, that once it's signed, it becomes yours for good. If it ends up in the trash and someone else tries to claim it, you can always say it was accidentally thrown away.

Thanks all. The guy that pulled her out happens to be a friend of th family. He saw the accident happen. Here's her car about 5 min after she was out of the car.

Yes she is. Been getting updates. She's more coherent now, and asking for food. CAT scans now show minimal brain bleeding and swelling. Prognosis for full recovery is excellent at this time.

That's amazing news that she is making such progress that quickly! Godspeed. What a terrible accident.

My best to you, her, and and her family, Kevin.

"bland" things actually start tasting better. things like corn syrup start tasting like the nasty quasi polymers they are, a thickass sludge that your body doesnt really process well at all.

where I notice it with food.....I have a crap diet but do take a week and try for all reasonably healthy things....

if I do that for a few days I don't have an upset stomach, don't feel 'heavy' and sluggish in the morning etc

where I really notice it is when I take 5 days and eat well, then have a junk food bender one night...I feel soooo crappy the next day, it's like a hangover

Must be my Euro-blood (both parents from UK) - anything over 25 and I'm not happy.

Went to Cancun Mexico for my honeymoon and was expecting to hate the weather because it was the hot season. Hurricane had just left and so nice cool winds bringing things down to 22. Natives were huddling in Parkas!

a bus driver in our city just lost her job....she drives one the little school buses and they often park them at their residences...

the other day it was -37C in the morning, bus wouldn't start...she had only 5 or 6 kids to pick up on her route so she jumped into her SUV, rescued the kids waiting on the street and delivered them to school...

she had called the school telling them about the bus problem, they said - We'll try to get someone out within a couple of hours...

moral of the story - 25C is fine, quit bitching about the heat when -37C can put you in the hospital

no, true moral is - doing the right thing is often rewarded with loss...I can't believe that they punted her. Even the parents who were told about 'insurance and safety concerns', because she used her own vehicle (rather than some decrepit old bus), are trying to fight the school system so she gets her job back

What a way to win, in a playoff no less. I don't think I would have been within 20 feet of the hole on that one.

I watched the last couple of hours of the mens PGA event at the weekend there, did you see McIlroy's approach at 18 in regular play? 245 yard five wood across water to within 15 ft of the pin....... just awesome! Unfortunately he blew the putt and lost a 4-man play-off

no, true moral is - doing the right thing is often rewarded with loss...I can't believe that they punted her. Even the parents who were told about 'insurance and safety concerns', because she used her own vehicle (rather than some decrepit old bus), are trying to fight the school system so she gets her job back

Sad - we as parents are called upon to drive the kids to various events because there's just not enough funding for busses. And as we have a van that'll seat 5 kids in back, we do at least once in a while.

I know here in BC there's a provision in our insurance for emergencies...I think it's as long as it's not over x amount of times in a calendar month, you're OK.

McIlroy just imploded, it was his to win....gotta keep the ball out of the water.

To be fair, he wasn't the only one to crumble down the stretch........ fuckin tough course  I'd need a rather large bag full of balls to complete that course

That's a shame. All because she cares about "her" kids. What would the school have done if the little ones would have ended up frostbit or worse?

Well that's just it.....so how does the conversion work again? Your 0F is about our -18C? So imagine your -20F and those kids are standing there waiting for a bus that would never come.

the schoolboard is completely off base talking about possible insurance implications, she made the right move

Maybe the skinny kids can slice open the fat kid and huddle inside him for warmth. I think I saw somewhere once that work.

Awesome...I had a similar shot like that once, par 3 #9 at Hawks Landing in town has the blue tees back at 235, 240, the one time I told my friends fuck you all I'm going to hit my tee from back there (white is like 165 on that hole, big pond and 30 yards of embankment up from the water to the green, +20, 25 feet high) and I landed it within 10 feet with my 5 wood. Of course, a lot of the greens there are a bitch, missed the birdie putt.

I keep telling my buddy I golf with most of the tie he hits it too far and should be playing blues, and he goes nah, fuck that...I like being able to drive the green in places, and I spray it too much, the blue fuck me over too often

I think after not playing last year and half the year before that I'm ready to play this year. I think I'm going to ebay the lefty clubs though, my left shoulder doesnt really like swinging lefty all that much.

When it gets to -10+ temps they tend to call school off for the day. Typically we only hit those temps once or twice a season.

Maybe this is your penance for ruining the environment with that greenhouse gas machine you call a truck. :hand:

:P

I would describe the winter here as a straight psychopath.
