Yes it's a rig. The company I work for (Canadian, yo) doesn't have a lightning policy. However, the lease holder, at this location it's BP/Phillips, has a policy stating "any strikes within 7 miles, all work is to stop, a ll personnel to shelter in structures or vehicles. I did get a hour or so of work in. Now back in the truck.

Wish it was that easy. This location is a Phillips/PB, and they are tight. Even I can't get on location after 8:00pm. Otherwise, I'd do it myself. The rig is paying welders $75/hr. Seems low to me, I've heard of much more in oil patch for certified welders.

All the international stuff is expensive...I forget what it cost for the Solheim Cup last year, but it was ridiculous. Not quite as bad as the Ryder Cup tho, the mens events are always way more expensive.

Just looked at my pay statement. Really shouldn't have. My year to date times are stupid. Last paycheck was for the 37th week of year. As of that, I have 2,175 total hours so far this year. For those of you who only work a 40hr week, you'd have 1,480hrs by the 37th week, and a total of 2,080hrs for a full 52 weeks.

Yes and no........ we do a lot of work for the big sales dealerships in Perth, if they have a rush job then we have a rush job :lol: Normally we'll get about halfway through wednesday and think we're on target for the weekend then we get hit with a couple of rush jobs :| We can't tell them to get fucked either or else we lose the work altogether, we just have to put in more hours to get it done!

that's similar to us...our sales reps secure a new client without having any idea of the scope of the work involved...

then our production areas and warehouse get killed daily until people quit or get so stressed they don't come in :lol:


we just got a new client called Active Network ( all hunting and fishing locations in our province)

initially I had a look, limited line items, lots of locations....seemed like a manageable thing

then we found out they want distributions of multiple items weekly :x add that to our existing 60 or so clients and our order pickers get killed....

Just got home. Had a decent day until one of the other techs called me to come help him. Got that straightened out, and while in the process of training him on how that equipment works, I found a major safety issue. Basically, someone changed out 2 600 volt, 2000 amp breakers, and used the wrong type. The ones they used have no electrical interlocks, so they can be closed at anytime. If they are closed at the wrong time (180 degs. Out of phase) the breakers will explode, taking the operators hands, arms, and possibly head off.
They are locked out for now, gonna change one out early in am, and have try and find another one somewhere. 40 year old GE breakers. Good luck.

Yes, getting caught up can be a let down when you're caught up. Double edged sword!

We usually do, we didn't last year though, we had our busiest 4th quarter ever last year, twas very odd. Hopefully it will be steady the last quarter of the year and not crazy busy. All we can do is wait and see. Business has been so up and down this year, it's crazy.
