My buddy works natural gas pipelines, and back in the day he had to travel a lot in the mountain west region (he has a local job now, so no more traveling, still in the same business though). He used to do a LOT of work in Wyoming and would be up there a lot, and he said the same thing about the small town redneck bars up there. The pipeline crew would walk in and everyone would stop doing whatever it was they were doping and just silently stare. He said in a few bars, it was unnerving :lol:

My great gran spoke Gaelic, sadly she died when i was only 5 or 6, would've been cool to learn it but hardly any native speakers left tbh, certainly none in this area mid-Scotland :(

:lol: This does happen, had it happen myself a few times......... pub down the Barras in Glasgow (rough area) was the worst, me and a couple of mates went in for a few beers to this shitehole of a boozer (we were going to a concert, boozer was close by), as soon as we walked through the door every eye in the place was on us, all dead rough looking bastards :lol: They didn't look away until after i'd walked up to the bar and said "3 lager please big man" to the big bastard behind the bar :lol:

Once I was in this mining town in Eastern BC, just near the Alberta border and it was just like the old west. The music didn't stop but everybody turned and faced us as we walked into the bar.

And, when I was in England in the middle of the day, the bartender was downright unfriendly until I told him I was from Canada. "So, know where Nanaimo is, then?"
