Sounds like you need a new chair, it must be putting your posture right out, get yourself a deep massage and ask them to work out the knots that you will no doubt have in your shoulder area by the sound of it, you would be surprised how much those things restrict the movement of your neck and how much pain they cause, hope it feels better soon :hug:

At work we have a simple pecking order..supervisor, lead hand and then peons.

A coworker with 42 yrs experience became our supervisor earlier this year.We had a meeting and I asked about the lead hand position.They told us nothing has been decided but would let us know.
I just found out today that another coworker was given the lead hand spot....over two months ago.I have over 18 yrs experience, he has less than 3.He handles one facet of our business, I help with everything.In fact, when this 'lead hand' is trying to cover for our supervisor, often the problems land on my desk (like always)

I sent my boss's boss's boss a note today asking why the position wasn't posted so some of us could apply for it...his polite response said - We don't post the lead hand position, I'm sorry you weren't made aware of it.

My short response to that verbatim was - This company does not post an internal listing for the position of lead hand? You select someone with less experience and knowledge than other employees using an arbitrary process? I'm indeed sorry to hear that this company operates in that fashion.Thank you for your time.

hard part is that I like the guy who got the lead hand spot...I literally found out about it today.I knew that he was trying to cover our supervisor's stuff when our super was off.I just assumed he asked to do it to learn more about some of our processes.So I walked up to him, shook his hand and congratulated him.He thought I was making a joke.I got so angry with him laughing that I scared him..I said, dude this has no bearing on you, I'm happy you were awarded the position, but since they didn't post the job there's at least two of us VETERANS that are quite angry over the way it was handled.I hope that you've learned lots from me in a short time (he hasn't) because you're on your own when our supervisor leaves this building.I won't be taken advantage of any longer by this company so buck up and grow a pair...you're getting paid for the position, now it's time to do exactly that.

I should not have left him alone like that...but ffs........I'm going to stop typing about this now, my keyboard can't take it.

I feel sorry for all of my coworkers...honestly.None of us get decent raises and we all put out lots for the company.

This guy and me talk about stuff outside of work and he handles his account very well..without the group leader stuff he's one of the busiest guys.
I wouldn't do his regular job for that reason.

I've arrived at the conclusion that management never helps any of us....so we have to make the atmosphere bearable on our own.I can't stand to see anyone depressed or angry over a work issue,
so I tend to help so the guy/girl doesn't stress out and quit.That's why I do the birthday things and other morale stuff.It can get oppressive for our order pickers, their jobs are brutal at times.I can
do what I want, when I want....


Anyway I know what you're saying bro...but I'm trying to focus on management, rather than him.I can't begrudge someone who wants to get ahead....management did this behind everyone's back, not him.If I leave something that I know will eventually go south...I have to fix it later anyways, so it's difficult to walk away from potential problems (for me)

I hear you HAL - I belonged to the province of BC for many many years. People with my seniority are groomed to go up the ladder, if you brown-nose and work in the main hub of Victoria. I refused to move, and have been stuck for most of my career at the same level. The guys I started out with are now head of their IT sections and I'm an internal software buyer for mainframes and servers. More than basic, but not that much.

But, the good news is, I can get my job done a lot easier because I know all the bigwigs personally. My boss comes to me when he has an imponderable and I usually know who can push the paper through the best. I work at home so I see my family more...

I decided long ago that my home and home life was far greater a reward for me than position or prestige. Most of those who are in those positions have ulcers, have been off for heart problems or worse. I sleep very well at night knowing I'm doing the right thing.

And, yes I'd like to have a bigger house rather than a townhouse, a new car instead of 2 cars that are both turning 20 next year. But in life there are trade-offs. An honest man's pillow is his peace of mind.

Your guy who's been pushed up into that position's got to sink or swim, minus uncle Hal's help. I can't blame you for your decision. I have done the same to a guy who became a Business Analyst for us. I was doing all the BA work, but they hire a guy because this is what they do...he's constantly asking me this, that and the other thing, and overspending etc. etc. He was eventually canned after hiring 3 others who didn't know the business model. I'm still here, and going to get a pension fairly soon (a little over 10 years).

Once a week it never failed-- "you are where the rubber hits the road,:meh: let me know what they really need". Er, sorry, that was taken away from my job description. We were supposed to go in a new direction, brave new world and all that - I'm the old direction, you're the new direction. Godspeed!

They still wanted me on the committee meetings but I refused. No more volunteering of my after work time..the line in the sand had been drawn!

I have not had voluntary breaks either...all I have left is a couple of courses, work period + graduation work. That is all that is left. So it is not all up to me, cuz of the work part. Im trying my best to get a job as soon as I have time from finishing the few remaining courses. And with those, it is about time too. They don't run them all year round so that sucks aswell.

I hear you HAL - I belonged to the province of BC for many many years. People with my seniority are groomed to go up the ladder, if you brown-nose and work in the main hub of Victoria. I refused to move, and have been stuck for most of my career at the same level. The guys I started out with are now head of their IT sections and I'm an internal software buyer for mainframes and servers. More than basic, but not that much.

But, the good news is, I can get my job done a lot easier because I know all the bigwigs personally. My boss comes to me when he has an imponderable and I usually know who can push the paper through the best. I work at home so I see my family more...

I decided long ago that my home and home life was far greater a reward for me than position or prestige. Most of those who are in those positions have ulcers, have been off for heart problems or worse. I sleep very well at night knowing I'm doing the right thing.

And, yes I'd like to have a bigger house rather than a townhouse, a new car instead of 2 cars that are both turning 20 next year. But in life there are trade-offs. An honest man's pillow is his peace of mind.

Your guy who's been pushed up into that position's got to sink or swim, minus uncle Hal's help. I can't blame you for your decision. I have done the same to a guy who became a Business Analyst for us. I was doing all the BA work, but they hire a guy because this is what they do...he's constantly asking me this, that and the other thing, and overspending etc. etc. He was eventually canned after hiring 3 others who didn't know the business model. I'm still here, and going to get a pension fairly soon (a little over 10 years).

Once a week it never failed-- "you are where the rubber hits the road,:meh: let me know what they really need". Er, sorry, that was taken away from my job description. We were supposed to go in a new direction, brave new world and all that - I'm the old direction, you're the new direction. Godspeed!

They still wanted me on the committee meetings but I refused. No more volunteering of my after work time..the line in the sand had been drawn!

thanks Noilly....it's my fault, sticking with a dead end job for so long.There's no advancement or money...I just stay because it's comfy and don't want to take a chance. :oops:
