We used to be the same - 10 years in you get 3 weeks, 15 years you get 4 weeks etc.

Then they changed it midstream and we accrue hourly at a percentage rate...and they use that rate based on how many hours you worked the previous year.
and.... it's constantly rotating meaning I could start the year with something like 100 hours and then as I work I accrue more hours and can use them (the only benefit)

They roll ours over..we used to have to use them all by year end or lose them.I like this way better.

In the case of Harv, my supervisor he's retiring next year.So he could either save them and get paid about 8 weeks holidays on departure or move back his retirement date.

Oh I most definitely always support people taking vacation. They deserve it! But I just meant that it just is not always possible for personnel reason or maybe someone is in a tight spot and needs that extra money that year and various other reasons. So it is good there is a proper way to get compensated. Either double vacation days next year or extra money.

That's our group...we used to be 'specialists' and I started cross training over 10 years ago so we didn't run into the bad vacation snags.
I used to come back to sheer hell after a break.Now, I don't even bat an eye because I've trained 2 people to do my functions and they
are quite good at it.

We have our moments....the order pickers cover for order pickers (something I used to do when they went on vacation or when we were 'in between' employees, I stopped doing that a few years back now), we have one type of shipper cover for the main shipper and the main shipper and one order guy does my job when I'm off.It's not too bad because none of us ever take huge blocks of holidays off...3 days here, 5 days here.
